How to Introduce a Quotation in the APA Style
Use one of the following formulas to properly document a quotation in a sandwich paragraph in your essay:
According to author (date), "Quotation" (p. #).
or
Author (date) verb, "Quotation" (p. #).
Explanation:
You need to cite only the author's last name. The date is the year of
publication for the article or book. Note that the page reference has p.
in front of it.
Examples using an essay from our book:

According to Jacoby (2006), "Nicotine may be pleasurable, but it's nothing
like the high of forcing others to behave the way you want them to" (p.
101).
