How to Write Correct References Page Entries in the APA Style

Please note that the page called Works Cited in the MLA style is called References in the APA style.  There are many other differences.

An example for an article from our textbook:

Jacoby, J. (2006).  What the antismoking zealots really crave.  In G. Goshgarian
and K. Krueger, Dialogues:  An Argument Rhetoric and Reader, 5th ed.
    (pp. 99-101).  New York:  Pearson/Longman.

Things to notice:  The author's first name is initialized.  The article title gets sentence-style capitalization.  The book title gets headline-style capitalization and it is italicized.  The page numbers are preceded by pp.

An example for an article from NC LIVE:

Clines, F.X. (2000, March 24).  Maryland senate brings gun locks to floor
debate.  New York Times.  Retrieved April 18, 2002 from Ebscohost database.
    Article No. 2954937.
