Second Essay Assignment
The length and research requirements are the same as for the first essay, so check that link if you need to review.
The major difference is that now you have more choices of topics for your second essay than you had for your first. We have read and discussed articles on the juvenile justice system, the war against terrorism, and gay marriage. You may choose one of these three controversies, or you may choose one of the controversies from the first essay assignment sheet that you did NOT use. For example, if you wrote your first essay on binge drinking, you still have the rights of smokers, the state of poetry, and animal experimentation from which to choose.
You are REQUIRED to use at least one source from your textbook and two sources from NC LIVE quoted or paraphrased with proper documentation in your paper. In other words, the minimum number of sources you will cite in your essay is three (3). Use the MLA style and include a Works Cited page. Remember to use the proper manuscript format as shown in your book, pages 291-303.
Having a rough draft conference with me is OPTIONAL.
You are REQUIRED to turn in an extra copy of page 1 of your essay for a research file I am keeping.
